Registering with Disability Services
Following one’s acceptance and commitment to attend UNC Charlotte, students
seeking accommodations should submit documentation of their disability using the
appropriate
Documentation Verification Form
Prior to submitting documentation, students should make
personal copies of any documentation, as the office can not release that
information once it has been received.
Once a DS counselor reviews the documentation, the student
will receive a letter of determination regarding their disability.
If the documentation meets University guidelines, the student can make an
appointment with a DS counselor after class registration is complete. This
initial session addresses the student’s rights and responsibilities, their
disability, and how it affects their academic performance. Reasonable and
appropriate accommodations pertaining to the specific disability are discussed
and determined. For further information about accommodations please visit the
Accommodations page.
In the event that a student’s documentation does not meet
the guidelines for documenting a disability, a letter will be sent detailing
this decision.
For more information on the guidelines for determining a disability and the
laws that apply to students with disabilities please visit
the
Legal page.
Students already enrolled at UNC Charlotte can register
with the Office of Disability Services by following the above process.
