Interpreting Services

The Office of Disability Services  ensures equal access for individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing through interpreter services. UNC Charlottes uses interpreters certified through Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and North Carolina (Class A only) for class lectures, labs, tutoring, university meetings, and cultural events on campus.

To ensure interpreter coverage, students should request interpreter services from the Disability Services Office after completing their course schedule for the semester, but no later than 3 weeks prior to the start of classes.

For other interpreting needs, such as tutoring, campus sponsored meetings, and events, students must complete an interpreter request form and turn it into the Office of Disability Services a minimum of 3 days prior to the event. The interpreter request form can be obtained in the DS office.

Please contact the Office of Disability Services with any questions.
